Switzerland

You may well ask yourself as a student, what can Switzerland offer me? Well, there are many advantages of studying in Switzerland. The high quality of education is relatively accessible & a large percentage of the student populations are foreign students.

Switzerland offers a broad choice to students at the level of Higher or Tertiary education.

Currently Switzerland has 12 recognized traditional universities. (10 Cantonal Universities & 2 Federal Institutes of Technology), 8 Universities of Applied Sciences, 15 Universities of Teacher Education, & further University-Level Institutions supported by the Confederation.

Autumn & Spring Semester

  1. Bachelors Degree (180 ECTS Credits or 3 years of full time study)
  2. Masters Degree (90-120 ECTS Credits/1.5 years of full time study

Before leaving for Switzerland, you must complete certain important formalities which you should begin as soon as you receive confirmation that you have been accepted by a Swiss University.

Time to apply
Bachelors- not later than 30th April
Masters- not later than 15th December or 15th May

Applications forms for (graduate) individual universities will either be given to you at the Education Fair or sent upon request.
There is no limit to the number of universities you can apply to but it is probably wise to focus on around six institutions.

First of all the Pre-application procedure for some universities can be online.
For the application you need

  1. The original or a certified copy of the Secondary School leaving certificate
  2. Photo

Tuition Fees for Foreigners
Per Semester ranges between 633 to 4000 (in CHF)
Per Year ranges 1266 to 8000 (in CHF)
Living Expenses CHF 18,000 to 28,000 per year

Up to 2 years Swiss Visa-Rs.2200/-
Up to 3 years Swiss Visa-Rs.3250/-

  1. Confirmation that you have been accepted by a Swiss University
  2. A guarantee of sufficient financial-means to support yourself during your studies

Documents for Resident Permit

  1. Valid Passport
  2. Confirmation that you have been accepted by a Swiss University
  3. A guarantee of sufficient financial-means to support yourself during your studies
  4. Statement concerning your address in Switzerland

Documents for Visitors Visa

  1. Swiss Visa application form (3 copies)
  2. 1 recent passport size photo
  3. Passport or travel document valid for at least 3 months after intended visit.
  4. Proof of sufficient funds
    1. Cost of Living-Sfr.100/day
    2. Cost of Visa (student)-$150
  5. A student permit is valid for the length of the study period
